SAN DIEGO – "Christian Thompson was arrested on his birthday by police officers who confronted him over his therapy dog. The police claimed that the dog was growling at passers-by at a train station. Thompson says his dogs movement was not aggressive and surveillance video from the train station appears to confirm his story. Thompson is an Iraq War Veteran who keeps his dog near him to help him deal with tension suffered from his military service. When Thompson attempted to retrieve the police officer’s badge number, he was arrested and suffered multiple bruises from the encounter. Officers claim he did not have a valid ticket to be in the train station, however the local news agency verified that he had two more weeks left on his pass. Thompson pleaded not guilty to several charges, including disorderly conduct." thelibertarianrepublic.com/iraq-war-veteran-arrested-cops-didnt-like-dog/#.UjL-jdKUSqY

I wonder if this is the whole story. I think California (where I live) is becoming more of a police state each day. Law enforcement can arrest or search and seize people on any obscure violation they care to cite, or can nebulously say was committed, and not have to be accountable for it. There is a bill in Sacramento that aims to film all police officers' activity. I'm all for surveillance of government. When you are on the clock, getting paid with my tax dollars to wield unrivaled authority over people, you should have nothing to hide. And if you do, the public deserves to see it.

This, right here, is why!

The officers were asses and decided to pick on a random citizen because they were bored, so they made up charges and threw him in jail. Having an aggressive dog is not a crime, so long as it is kept under control and does not attack/kill anybody...and even then it is not illegal, the dog just gets put down.
