A lot of people claim that surviving an an apocalyptic situation only takes guns and a little bit of gear. So these people just start purchasing gear and supplies but have not outdoors expirience at all. While good gear is very important, skills are more important. Start getting outdoors and hiking and start learning new things. Your strategy will make all the difference in an apocalyptic world. I am first aid and cpr qualified and a GTM 1 (Search and Rescue Qualified) . I have also been to a survival school up in PA. Getting qualified for search and rescue may be a bit much for some people but getting first aid training is absolutely necessary. It will benefit you throughout your lifetime whether there is a collapse or not. But get accustomed to the outdoors.
Some Helpful skills :
First Aid Hunting Fishing gardening Hiking Rappeling Rock climbing Being able to build a fire Camping knowing how to camouflage yourself Backpacking martial arts Knowing different types of plants and what's they are used for Situational awareness Frugality any survival course.

Most people in an apocalyptic situation think you should go off on your own and kill everyone in your path. Only groups will survive a situation like the collapse!

Most people in an apocalyptic situation think you should go off on your own and kill everyone in your path. Only groups will survive a situation like the collapse! You are right to an extent. Groups will be the ones who survive best. You cant have massive groups though. Preferably under 10 people. The more people you have the more mouths you have to feed, and when you are on the brink of starvation....it will require more extreme (and sometimes immoral) measures to get food and supplies. While violence may not play a crucial role in your expirience, it will certainly be there, which means you should be prepared for it. Going around shooting your way through the apocalypse will get you killed. Eventually a government will rise up and you could be held accountable for your deeds during the time of the collapse. Its very important to try and make moral decisions under dire circumstances, but with the mindset in the back of your mind; whatever it takes to survive. Of course throwing morals out the window needs to be a very last resort. ~DarkShadow
