Obviously I am a staunch evolution supporter and think creationism is ridiculous. However, some people are in the middle with opinions like "god started evolution" etc. I also am aware that some people still want creationism taught in schools, which I think is also ridiculous and deprives the child of knowledge.
What are your thoughts on the Evolution vs. Creationism debate?

What are your thoughts on the Evolution vs. Creationism debate? My opinion is that we should be teaching students to think scientifically in SCIENCE class. That means we teach them about theories, but also how to examine them and their lacunae on their own. But evolution is, in essence, fact. There is no controversy outside the U.S. If we teach creationism, should we also teach my Uncle Jim's theory that we came from a celestial unicorn's vomit? And you also mentioned theistic evolution. That's not at all inconsistent with the theory of evolution, but there is no evidence to back it up, so that stays out of science class. But, again, teach kids to think with the Scientific Method and they will know why they aren't being taught creationism.
