I am currently reading a great book about how Lincoln got the ball rolling for the presidents after him to trample the constitution. It has given me some insight about the civil war that I never new. It makes many bold claims about Lincoln being a liar and a criminal that so far seem legitimate.

He made it so states could not succeed from the union, and he set a federal law against slavery..something that is illegal under the constitution. I'm not saying he was evil, or a criminal...he did what he thought was right, sadly it paved the way for other presidents to trample our constitution.

Based on my research. He was not fond of black people. He tried to deport many of them to another country. Just an interesting fact I found..

I love Lincoln, despite knowing that he went against the Constitution. He also did NOT see blacks as equal to whites (common for people in the mid-nineteenth century), and he did have a plan for deporting them post-slavery.

True, it wasn't the best way to go about it...but who knew what was going through his head when he did it. Perhaps that was the only way to make sure slavery was abolished...
